A practical guide to selecting the right HPMC grade for tile adhesives, plasters and mortars.
Choosing the right hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) grade starts with your application. For tile adhesives, water retention and open time are the key functions; for gypsum plaster, workability and sag resistance matter most.
1. Match the application first
Tell your supplier the end application — tile adhesive, plaster, mortar or detergent — so the right viscosity range and modification can be recommended.
2. Confirm the packaging and consistency
Standard supply is 25 kg bags with consistent lot-to-lot quality. Ask for a sample and trial the grade in your own formulation before bulk orders.
3. Work with the factory directly
BANG SHANG manufactures HPMC at its HEHAO Cellulose factory in Jinzhou, Hebei Province, and can adjust grades to your formulation requirements.
